More moonlight photos/hoiday.

I'm off on a bit of a holiday on the Natal South Coast at the little village of Port Edward tomorrow. Have the use of a two bedroom cottage a few hundred meters from miles of deserted beaches, at the princely price of R150 per day, about $17 US. We have 10 days school holiday at the moment and prices for accommodation on the South Coast usually run in the R1000+ per day range at this time of the year, depending on the type of accommodation. How did I manage that? Well as the old saying goes, "it's not what you know, it's who you know."

Taking my 9 weight fly rod with salt water flies and also my Drop Shot rod with salt water spinning reel filled with 30kg braid. Will have my camera with me so I'll take lots of photos, who knows I might just get lucky and catch a few Shad in the surf, (known as Blue Fish in the US and Australia).

Leaving tomorrow at about 8am and will get there at around 12pm. My friend Jane from Durban will be joining me with her geriatric cat and her two geriatric dogs.

Last night I walked down to the pond just below the cottage to take a few more moonlight photos.

The moon seems stuck in the branches.

There is an old Bushman story of a praying mantis who sat in a thorn tree one night trying to catch the moon while it struggled  through the thorns and branches. He was hoping to ride on the moon and be worshiped by the other animals as a god. He forgot he was only a small insect.

Reflection.

Not succeeding in the tree the mantis tried to catch the moon while it was stuck in the water, but as he grabbed the moon's reflection it shattered sending shards of moonlight into his eyes, blinding him. Only after apologizing to the Great God for his temerity was his sight restored.

The lights on the horizon are part of the town of Estcourt.

Sounds just lovely a place by the sea.

One needs breaks like that to recharge.
