With modern editing programs one can change an uninteresting photo to one that has a bit more "oomph".

Is it Art?
One can achieve the most amazing things with photo editing programs, take an ordinary photo and turn it into an oil painting that looks as if it has been painted by a master. But is it art? Well I guess not, but it still gives me a lot of pleasure to do it, the only limit is your imagination.

Sunrise at Sondela.
Same sunrise scene, manipulated.
While I was walking along that morning a car came past leaving a plume of dust behind, I photographed the suns rays shining through the dust.
Once again same photo as above. Might not be art with a capital "A" but each one is unique as only I have those specific photos.
Above a picture of a maroela tree, the sweet luscious fruit of these trees are much sought after by man and animal alike. The fruit can be used for jams, is fermented into an alcoholic drink called "mampoer", (kicks like a mule) and also a delicious cream liqueur.

New Photo Editing Program.
On one of the photography websites I follow I came across a new photo editing program, "Smart Photo Editing". Cost $29.95 (US) about R250 in South African Rand, after using the trial version I just couldn't resist it.
(Shouldn't have though, as this is a month of extra expenses for me as I have just bought a "new" car, or what is euphemistically known as pre-owned. The "new" car is a whole 14 fourteen years younger than my existing 30 year old car. So there are a whole lot of extra expenses this month. The car has to be put through C.0.R, (Certificate of Road worthiness), any defects have to be fixed before it can be registered in my name, licensed and new licence plates bought, etc.)
I have a real "thing" against new cars, spent two weeks going from car show room to show room, dealer to dealer, and came away more convinced than ever that new cars and their prices are a rip off. Almost every salesman seemed to think he could impress me with the "fantastic" sound systems in the cars, and proceeded to blast my ears. I prefer silence and my own thoughts while driving, to the drivel you hear on the radio stations now days. (my "new" car has a radio that doesn't work!)
The best part though is the fantastic financing deals I was offered 10%, 11% and even 14% interest on repayments were considered "fantastic"!! They weren't very interested in a cash deal, some car dealers here are registered financial institutions as well, so they make most of their money out of financing your purchase. So I went and bought my "new" car cash at a tenth of their "fantastic" prices.
Started using the new program straight away and one can create some amazing effects. Below is a photo I took in April this year.

Experimenting.
Been at home all day, due to a bad virus and sinus infection. Came down with it on Saturday and spent the whole weekend in bed, much to the disgust of the dogs who missed out on their walks. Saw the doctor this morning who booked me off work for a week, gave me a shot and a packet of pills.
Eventually got tired of the bed, had spent two days and two nights there already, so I stated experimenting with some of my photos on the Picassa photo editing programme.

Photos of an old gate post.
Took some close-up and makro photos of a gatepost, gate and gate hinge, and then manipulated them on my editing programme for some interesting effects.

Soften and blurred the outlines a bit.
Ghosts of gateposts past.
Photo above was changed using cross process manipulation. (I'm using these fancy words but I don't quite know what they mean). The result is very interesting though.
Emphasising the rust on this hinge. (Inverted)
